SMALL BUSINESS GOOGLE ADWORDS
Google AdWords can be very effective for small businesses as it can allow these businesses to obtain a listing in Google above much larger competitive businesses.
Whether or not Google AdWords will work in generating revenue for your small to medium sized business depends upon a number of factors.
Factors Affecting the Success of Small Business Google AdWords Campaigns
The most important factors in determining whether Google AdWords can successfully generate income for your small business are listed below.
Your Profit Margin
If you have a very low profit margin, more than likely Google AdWords may not work for your small business. An AdWords campaign could successfully drive traffic to your website – however the cost of the AdWord click could mean that with thin margins it is just not a profitable advertising method.
The Level of Competition in your Industry and/or Geographical Market
Usually in highly competitive markets many businesses are also looking to generate business growth through Google AdWords. This drives up the cost per click and it may become uneconomical to run a Google AdWords campaign. In a market with little competition, it follows that there is likely to be little competition in Google AdWords for your specific market. In this instance a Google AdWords campaign could be highly successful for your small business.
Your Conversion Rate
If you have a high conversion rate then Google AdWords is more likely to work for you than if you have a low conversion rate. As you pay per click, if you have to have a large number of clicks before you actually obtain a new customer, the cost of the amalgamated clicks could end up being too high in order for you to make a profit.
Repeat Traffic
The amount of repeat traffic you obtain also impacts on your decision as to whether or not run a Google AdWords campaign. If you obtain a high level of repeat customers, then the initial cost of attracting that customer, while high may still be profitable in the long run. If this is not the case for your type of business then you need to have a good profit margin such that even with the cost of the Google Adwords your business still obtains a profit when engaging in Google Adwords.
