SMALL BUSINESS SEO BRISBANE
What Does Small Business SEO Entail?
SEO for local small businesses entails some specific SEO tasks that are invaluable in successfully getting these businesses to rank on the first page of Google.
There are basically two different types of small to medium businesses from an SEO perspective.
- A small business that sells products or services to a large geographical area, say Australia and/or overseas.
- The second is a small business that sells products or services to a small geographical area, a target market such as Brisbane or suburbs within Brisbane.
I specialise in SEO for small to medium businesses that have a specific local market area that they serve.
This type of small business SEO is also known as Local SEO and it means that the SEO done for your business needs to be geographically focused. We need to determine your target market and employ SEO so that your website ranks high for customers in your target market.
Through keyword research I would determine the most frequently used terms your customers use when searching for your services. If you are a service business based in Brisbane, more often than not (backed by keyword research) I would optimise your website for the Brisbane market, the same if you were on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast etc. There is no point in your website appearing high in the results in Sydney for example.
It is also usually easier to get a website to rank for a smaller geographical area as there is less competition.
I may also optimise your website for the specific suburbs that you serve as well as areas that you wish to penetrate that you are not currently obtaining business from.
White Hat Small Business SEO Brisbane
The basic guidelines for White Hat SEO is to optimise your website for your customers and this is what I would do. This is a win, win situation as it is what Google requires and it provides your customers with exactly what they are seeking.
If we provide your customers with what they are actually seeking, they will not only click on your website but there is a good chance that once they have done so they will then contact you either by phone, Contact Form or email. This is known in the business as the Click Through Rate (CTR).
Having a good CTR is very important, there is no point in having your website rank high but no-one actually contacting you once they have visited your site. For a high CTR your website needs to provide good content that changes visitors to your site into actual customers.
Specific Small Business SEO Brisbane
For successful small business SEO I would be looking to do a number of different tasks as outlined below.
Home Page
Optimise your home page for the geographical target market that your business serves.
Suburb Pages
Write individual pages for each of the suburbs you currently serve and any additional suburbs or areas that you wish to obtain business from but are not currently doing so. Each and every one of these pages that I write will have different content.
The overall message will be the same but each suburb page will be written focused on customers within the specific area. Duplicate content is not possible as Google would penalise your site if you had the identical content on a number of different pages on your website.
Local Business Directory Listings
I would list your business on high PR local business directories. PR stands for Page Rank and it is a measure of how good Google considers that website to be. Its not the number of directories (backlinks) that you have that matters, it is the quality and relevance of these links to your site that Google approves of.
I would only list your website on local business directories. There is usually no point in having backlinks from overseas business directories – in fact this can do your website more harm than good.
Industry Backlinks
I would also look to list your business on industry specific sites. Having a backlink from an industry association that you belong to for example can be very valuable. If you don’t belong to any industry associations I can research for you which I think would be best in terms of link value and cost of membership.
Customer Reviews
Depending upon the service you provide customer reviews can be an extremely powerful tool. Not only for generating more business but it also helps with the ranking of your website.
If you don’t have one already I would set up a Google+ Page for your business. You would need then to collect reviews on this page. This can result in you having two listings on the first page of Google as shown below. It would also be a good idea to have the reviews highly visible on your website too. I would post them as images to avoid having duplicate content of text for your business on the net.
